Bullfrog Brewery Oud 15 Release

While renowned brewmaster Terry Hawbaker has long since moved on from Williamsport’s Bullfrog Brewery, one of his final creations is finally ready to see the light of day. On January 4 at 11am, Bullfrog will unleash about 350 bottles of Oud 15, a Belgian quad aged in red wine barrels with sour cherries. Housed in 750mL corked and caged bottles, people will be able to purchase a max of 3 bottles each for $20 apiece.

Word is this is beer was brewed and barreled by Hawbaker, while the addition of fruit and blending was handled by the current brewmaster, Nate Saar.

Description from the brewery:

“A Flemish style sour ale initially brewed as a Belgian style quadruple ale, aged for two years in second generation red wine barrels that previously held Jaspers. Blended then steeped with Montmorency sour cherries and bottle conditioned with Belgian candi sugar. Oud 15 represents the culmination of 15 years of brewing, and is worthy of the commemoration.”

Bullfrog Brewery landed on the nationwide beer nerd radar with a number of highly rated, extremely sought after wild ales and sours (Black Cherry Bomb, The Jaspers, Blue Cheer, etc) released from 2008 until Hawkbaker’s departure in January 2011.  He currently is the brewmaster for Pizza Boy Brewing in Harrisburg, PA.

Bullfrog is located at 231 West 4th Street in Williamsport, PA.
