More Allagash FV 13 Available Now

Allagash-FV13In case you missed it when this lovely wild ale hit distribution, Allagash released more bottles of FV 13 at the brewery yesterday afternoon. Originally released in February, FV 13 is their first crack at aging ale in Foudres, or giant oak tanks like the one pictured on the label (think Rodenbach or New Belgium).

Allagash “unearthed a very small amount,” so these will be brewery only and limit 2 per person. Don’t sleep if you want to grab some of the final bottles of FV 13.

Commercial description:

FV 13 marks our first venture into the world of foudre beers. Foudres are giant oak tanks used for aging (this one holds 2700 gallons.) FV 13 is a blend of wild yeast and bacteria, a base beer with lots of malt character, and about four years of patience. The finished beer is copper in color, with an aroma of cherries and caramel. The flavor is a blend of sweet and tart, with notes of fruit and caramelized sugar. The full mouthfeel gives way to a tart, mouth drying finish. 8.9% ABV.

Allagash Brewing Company is located at 50 Industrial Way in Portland. Check them out here.
