Allagash Merveilleux Debuts Soon, Limited National Distro

Allagash Merveilleux Sour AleMarvelous! Another barrel-aged wild ale is ready to roll out of Portland’s Allagash Brewing Company next week according to an Instagram post this morning. Merveilleux, a blended wild ale aged in bourbon and wine barrels, will be available at the brewery’s retail store next week, followed by limited national distribution “soon.”

Commercial description:

Merveilleux, French for marvelous, is the second release of this limited series. This beer is a blend of five different beers fermented in a mix of both bourbon and wine barrels. Brettanomyces, pediocaucus and lactobacillus were all utilized to create a myriad of flavors in this unique copper colored beer. The aroma is defined by the presence of the Brett resulting in both a crusty bread and fruit character. The tartness works well with the light oak and distinct citrus flavors, which are followed by a gentle maltiness and dry finish. 9.6% ABV.

Allagash Brewing Company is located at 50 Industrial Way in Portland.
