Surprise! Westbrook and Charleston Beer Exchange are dropping a 4-ganger of limited barrel-aged beers today, October 10 at the brewery in Mt. Pleasant and both Beer Exchange locations. Old Time is a Belgian strong dark ale aged in a variety of oak barrels, some containing funky bugs like brett, lacto and pedio.

The details:

  • Bottles will be available during normal hours TODAY at Westbrook, Charleston Beer Exchange and Greenville Beer Exchange
  • Grumpy Old Time: $20 + tax, limit of 4 bottles per person
  • Funky Old Time: $20 + tax, limit of 2 bottles per person
  • Brandy Old Time: $20 + tax, limit of 2 bottles per person
  • Rummy Old Time: $25 + tax, limit of 1 bottle per person

Commercial descriptions:

  • Brandy Old Time was aged for 18 months in three Laird’s Apple Brandy barrels without any wild yeast/brewing bacteria
  • Funky Old Time was aged for 18 months in two American oak red wine barrels with wild yeast/brewing bacteria
  • Grumpy Old Time was aged for 18 months in ten Laird’s Apple Brandy barrels with wild yeast/brewing bacteria
  • Rummy Old Time was aged for 18 months in four 15-gallon Prichard’s Rum barrels without any wild yeast/brewing bacteria. It is the rarest of the series with only 18 cases produced!
