Churchill’s Finest Hour Release Mar. 1

The one, the only, the infamous. Churchill’s Pub & Grille will be hosting their annual Renaissance Day on Saturday, March 1 featuring a beyond epic taplist, special food menu and the sought-after bottles of Churchill’s Finest Hour. Produced each year by Port Brewing specifically for the event, Churchill’s is a unique blend of barrel-aged imperial stout, known for being wonderfully complex, smooth and loaded with bourbon, oak and vanilla character.

While the event officially kicks off at 11am, the line for Churchill’s Renaissance typically begins in the wee hours of the morning as hundreds of beer geeks flock to San Marcos for the event. Bottles of Churchill’s Finest Hour are notoriously limited for takeaway (typically around 400 with a 2 bottle limit), which has created an enormous line-cutting problem the past few years. For 2014, the pub has announced a new system to help prevent any further chaos:

“We will be doing a double numbered wristbanding system for the line for bottle sales. This should help alleviate cutting issues. We will have a security person overnight to pass out wristbands. The double system makes it so you can’t pick up a wristband, leave and try and come back and jump the line. It will also prevent late joiners from getting bottles before the people behind them in line. I’m still thinking about doing a limited amount of online sales, but you’d have to pick it up that week and can’t double dip with waiting in line.”

Not into standing in line overnight for beer? Good news – bottles are usually available for in-house consumption well into the afternoon, and the draft menu will also feature 3 different vintages of Churchill’s Finest Hour.
