Prairie Wine Barrel Noir Returns May 9ish

Prairie Wine Barrel NoirThe fine folks over at Prairie Artisan Ales are readying another installment of Wine Barrel Noir, set to release on “May 9ish” (their words, not mine). This barrel-aged imperial stout will be distributed via Shelton Brothers, although it will be limited to Oklahoma and Texas (sorry, guys). Another note – while the first vintage was released in 750mL corked-and-caged bottles, it appears as if this will make the move to 12oz according to the Prairie beer listings page.

If you’ve been keeping score at home, this is one of five different Noir beers we’ve seen from Prairie so far. Prairie Noir, Vanilla Noir, Coffee Noir and Pirate Noir all have taken a roll in different whiskey or rum barrels with fun additions such as vanilla or coffee beans.

Commercial description:

Wine Barrel Noir is our imperial oatmeal stout aged in freshly dumped red wine barrels. Coffee and chocolate notes in the beer are complimented by tart berry flavors and oak we derive from the wine barrels. 11% ABV
