Deschutes The Dissident 2014 Coming in September

Deschutes The DissidentThe Dissident returns! Deschutes Brewery’s sought after Flanders Oud Bruin is back for its 4th release in 2014, beginning in September with limited distribution “in most states” within the brewery’s footprint. It takes an arduous 2 years to produce this sour brown ale with tart Oregon cherries, which rests in a variety of wine barrels for at least 18 months. The 2014 vintage will utilize the same recipe used to produce the inaugural release back in 2008.

Most Deschutes Reserve Series beers debut at their tasting room and pubs in Bend and Portland before hitting nationwide distro, so keep your eyes peeled for a possible release in the near future. The Dissident 2014 will be available in waxed 22oz bottles and limited draft.

Commercial description:

The Dissident is an Oud Bruin, a distinctive Flanders-style sour brown ale, with a heavenly aroma and flavor. Our first wild yeast beer, we use Brettanomyces and local cherries to give The Dissident its characteristic sour taste. Our stiffest brewing challenge, it must be fermented in isolation from our other beers for a full 18 months, partly in pinot and cabernet barrels. The words coddled and “worth it” come to mind. 11% ABV
