More wild ale action is set to pop off at Firestone Walker Barrelworks next month, featuring a double-barrel release of Agrestic and Feral Vinifera on Saturday, September 20 at 11am. This will be a ticketed festival-esque event with beer tastings, food, souvenir snifters and bottles of both new Barrelworks sours.

Tickets drop at 8am on Monday, September 1 via Eventbrite. Barrelworks will be closed to the public for the event and there is a 2 ticket purchase limit per person.

The details:

  • Tickets are $75 (includes 3 bottles of Agrestic) and $100 (includes 6 bottles of Agrestic)
  • Agrestic: $13.99 plus tax & CRV per 375mL bottle, 12-bottle limit, 600 cases produced
  • Feral Vinifera: $14.99 plus tax & CRV per 375mL, 6-bottle limit, 300 cases produced

Commercial descriptions:

Agrestic – This liberation begins its journey as DBA then continues through a “chrysalis” process involving 87% French and 13% American Oak barrels, and our proprietary collection of micro flora. To blend, we selected beer matured eight to 24 months in barrels, creating a synergistic beer. Immediately, toasted oak and lemon pith swirl on the nose and palate, followed by an amazing harmony of vanilla, coconut, Earl Grey tea and spice. The finish is crisp, with mouth-watering acidity and chewy tannins. Since we age, blend and bottle these beers once a year, there will be slight variation with each release. A santé! 6.6% ABV

Feral Vinifera is our foray into a new and exciting adventure in the Santa Ynez Valley, that expresses our collaborative efforts with local grape growers and winemakers. Its journey begins with the sourcing and pressing of grapes from David Walker’s vineyard, co-fermenting the juice with a wheat-based wort, inoculating with proprietary wild yeast and bacteria, and allowing for a long fermentation and maturation in French Oak barrels. We have carefully fermented, matured and blended this beer with the collaboration of our friend, Andrew Murray, proprietor/winemaker at Andrew Murray Vineyards. The resulting cuvee; a partnership of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Muscat grapes co-fermented with wheat based wort-bends the mind and senses. Pineapple, mango, guava mingle with Meyer lemon and gooseberry. A funky savory yeast bouquet lays down a firm foundation, fruity esters and tart acidity lend body and structure. Finishing with a flinty minerality, woody tannins and vinous perfume. 9.1% ABV
