Upright Billy the Mountain Bottle Release Feb. 12

upright-billy-the-mountainMore action coming out of Upright Brewing just in time for the weekend, with a fresh batch of Billy the Mountain hitting the tasting room on Thursday, February 12 at 5pm. This is a blended, barrel-aged old ale with brett, coming in at 9.1% ABV.

Price and bottle limit TBA. 82 cases produced.

Commercial description:

Billy the Mountain is an English-style Old Ale that blends a freshly brewed strong ale with a three year old barrel aged version of the same. With light use of brettanomyces, the Billy contrasts a rich malty profile with bright and complex flavors, ranging all the way from oak, ash and leather to ripe, subtropical fruit. The beer was intentionally bottled still to accentuate its richness but will develop more carbonation with time. While ready to drink now, patience and a proper beer cellar between 50-60F will increase its vinous quality and display the depth that only a living blend of young and old beer can provide as they interact. 9.1% ABV

Upright Brewing is located at 240 N Broadway Suite 2 in Portland, OR.

How long do you recommend sitting on this beer? I have a bottle from around the same time as your blog entry here and I’m curious when you would recommend popping it. I’m totally comfortable trying it next month or in 2-3 years.
