Commercial description:

This dark sour ale was inspired by classic Old Fashioned cocktails. We fermented a velvety imperial stout with our house sour culture, then aged it in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels alongside sweet Bing cherries and freshly zested oranges to create a rich, tart stout that’s perfect for sipping on cold winter nights. 9% ABV

Russian River Pliny the Younger Returns Starting Feb. 6

Russian River Pliny the YoungerIt’s almost that time of year again – the time for insanity. That time when the craft beer world goes bananas for a draft-only, no-growler (DONG!) release that will only be available in a couple of our 50 American states. But hey, why not?

Russian River Pliny the Younger is officially planned to return to the brewpub in Santa Rosa beginning on Friday, February 6. The team has already started brewing the renowned Triple IPA this week, so look forward to more details regarding the release and subsequent limited distribution soon. Stay tuned!

Commercial description:

Pliny the Younger, the man, was Pliny the Elder’s nephew and adopted son. They lived nearly 2,000 years ago! Pliny the Elder is our Double IPA, so we felt it was fitting to name our Triple IPA after his son. It is almost a true Triple IPA with triple the amount of hops as a regular I.P.A. That said, it is extremely difficult, time and space consuming, and very expensive to make. And that is why we don’t make it more often! This beer is very full-bodied with tons of hop character in the nose and throughout. It is also deceptively well-balanced and smooth. 10.25% ABV

Commercial description:

Imagine yourself in Berlin’s Tiergarten enjoying this refreshing Berliner Weisse inspired beer on a warm summer’s day. Bretta Weisse honors the traditional beverage of the great Prussian capital, Berlin. Fredrick-the-Great was trained to brew it, and Napoleon’s troops called it “The champagne of the North”. Firm estery notes of stone and tropical fruit lead to Funky, yeasty, citrus aromas. Soft cereal and Oak flavors are enveloped by a firm acidity and tartness. The finish is dry and crisp; a thoroughly enjoyable beverage. At 4.9% ABV, one could imagine enjoying several Bretta Weisse’s in the Tiergarten, or anywhere else. This Berliner Weisse inspired Wheat beer was aged in 1700 gal French Oak horizontal foeders for 8 months.

Firestone Walker Barrelworks is located at 620 McMurray Rd in Buellton, CA.

The Lost Abbey Track #8 Redux Available This Weekend

The Lost Abbey Track #8More limited bottles are dropping from coast to coast over Memorial Day weekend, including a special re-release of The Lost Abbey Track #8. This was originally released as a part of The Lost Abbey Ultimate Box Set Series in Summer 2012, but returns to the tasting room this weekend for those who might have missed out the first time around.

The brewery advised that bottles will be available to-go and this is still the same recipe as batch 1. Also joining in the fun will be bottles of 2014 Framboise de Amorosa, 2014 Deliverance and Cuvée de Tomme so you can feel free to load up on high-ABV barrel-aged beers for the festivities.

Prices and bottle limits TBA.

Commercial description:

We’ve never done a bourbon version of Judgment Day, so for Track 8 we sent this Cuvee de Tomme base to freshly emptied bourbon barrels. After an appropriate amount of time in the wood, we amped things up with a liberal dose of cinnamon sticks and dried chili peppers. The result is a spicy raisin, monster that weighs in at a hefty 13.70% ABV. So even though it already has it’s own number, if you’re not careful, it’ll have yours as well.
