Flossmoor Station Pre-Dark Lord Day Party and Bottle Release Apr. 25

Flossmoor-Station-BrewingBefore the wildly unnecessary late-night bottle sharing preceding the Dark Lord Day festivities (read: chaos) begins, Flossmoor Station Brewing Company is once again inviting everyone to kick off the weekend with their annual Pre-DLD party on Friday, April 25 at 4pm. As per usual, expect live music, limited beers, food and a special bottle release to commemorate the occasion.

The 2014 pre-party will feature TWO bottles – Barrel-Aged Big Poppa Imperial Porter and Barrel-Aged No. 4 Barleywine.

The details:

  • Bottle sales begin at 5pm
  • $15 per 22oz bottle
  • Bottle limit TBA
  • Special seasonal beers available on tap (outside only)

Commercial descriptions:

Big Poppa Imperial Porter – We imperialized a robust porter by giving it a high starting gravity, making it higher in alcohol. To balance its sweetness we increased the hops, as well. The end result is a big beer with loads of chocolate in the flavor and aroma. 10% ABV

No. 4 Barleywine – Brewed in collaboration with Flossmoor’s original brewmaster, Todd Ashman, No.4 is the latest in a series of our ongoing tradition of Barleywine greatness. Old Conundrum, Wooden Hell and Hi-Fi Rye are the first three in the great series. No. 4 is a unique blend of malt, wheat and rye reinforced with raw sugar. Hopped heavily with Warrior and Apollo with Cascade, Centennial and Columbus in supporting roles. 10.1% ABV

flossmoor

Flossmoor Station is set to ring in their 17th anniversary with a special release party and the debut of Barrel-Aged Magwitch on Saturday, July 13 at 5pm. An 1800’s style English IPA, this was brewed with 100% English pale male and East Kent Golding hops, then aged in oak barrels for over 4 months.

The details:

  • Draft and bottles available
  • $15 per 22oz bottle, limit 6 per person
  • Brewpub only, no distro
  • BBQ and live music from John Shonkwiler

Commercial description:

This IPA was brewed and aged in oak barrels to replicate the flavors of an 1800’s style English IPA.   Massively hopped at 4.5lbs per bbl, this beer has multiple dry hops.  This beer is refreshing in its simplicity.  Light malt sweetness lends way to hops, fruity esters, and flavors from the oak, finishing dry.
