This version of Experimentalis With Raspberries was aged on our red & white raspberries for 12 months in a Leonhardt Vineyards Zinfandel barrel, from Nappa, CA. 5.9% abv.

This Belgian-style Oud Bruin (or “old brown”) is brewed to an extremely high gravity before being aged to mellow out the intensity. Almost wine-like in character, the addition of tart Montmorency cherries from northern Michigan adds a light sweetness and fruity notes that nicely balance the acidic tartness and funky Brett-notes of the base beer. Bright, spritzy carbonation enhances the fruit and funk, and leads to a long, satisfying finish. 10.5% ABV

The wait is finally over – after bottling back in March earlier this year, Russian River Beatification Batch 007 is finally ready to hit the streets. Bottles will go on sale at the pub on Sunday, September 20 at 8am via the back rollup door.

For those of you keeping score at home and comparing this to the Batch 006 release, yes – the price is higher (up from $18), the limits are halved (down from 12 per person), and less was produced (down from over 1000 cases).
This beer is very unique and inspired by breweries in the Lambic region of Belgium and, especially, our friends at Cantillon. It is 100% spontaneously fermented, meaning yeast is not added. Once the beer is brewed, it is transferred to a cool-ship or “horny” tank located in our barrel room at the pub. There it sits overnight and collects whatever funky wild yeast and bacteria may be living in the room. The next day it is transferred to oak wine barrels where it ferments wildly and ages for a few months. The end result is a wild, spontaneously fermented, sour, and tasty hand-crafted beer! 5.5% ABV

Crooked Stave is polishing off their Petite Sour series with a gem from 2011, releasing Petite Sour Pure Guava on Wednesday, August 19 at 6pm. This sour ale aged in oak with guava (5.5% ABV) was the first commercially-available bottle from the Denver-based brewery, with this event marking its only return since the inaugural launch.

First Crush – Winemakers often refer to their harvest as “The Crush,” a reference to their process of literally crushing the juice from freshly harvested grapes. We’ve borrowed this term for “First Crush,” the very first beer we’ve ever blended from our stock of Syrah wine barrels filled with sour red ale. A mix of 18 month old barrels build complex base flavors of funk and oak, and the addition of Syrah grape juice after primary fermentation adds vinous, tannic notes of red wine, ripe fruit and leather. First Crush is ready to enjoy now, but will continue to evolve in your cellar for many years.
Sanguinello – Sanguinello is the name given to a variety of blood oranges, drawing on the deep crimson and ruby color of the citrus flesh. For Sanguinello the beer we sourced blood oranges locally, squeezing the fresh juice into Sauvignon Blanc barrels which held nine and eighteen month old sour blonde ale. The resulting beer is a beautiful hazy pink, balancing the tart base beer with the aromatics of citrus. We recommend enjoying the delicate fruit notes of Sanguinello fresh.
