Futures for the 2013 installment of 5050’s Eclipse barrel-aged imperial stout went up for sale yesterday, allowing people the opportunity to reserve their share of bottles long before the expected release in December. While two of the more coveted treatments are already sold out, four are still available for purchase here. Of course there’s a variety of rules and whatnot to go along with this, but check out the info form below and read through all the technical jargon before placing your order. Futures do allow for a discount on the regular price (don’t celebrate, they’re still $20+ each), and there is shipping available within California. Enjoy!
The local restaurant and brewery known as Peg’s Cantina is finally ready to disclose details regarding their next release of RareR DOS on December 21. A highly acclaimed and extremely difficult to acquire rum barrel-aged imperial stout, the Gulfport, Florida brewery produces this in limited quantities on an infrequent basis.
Available in 500mL growlers for $20 each (cash only), the sale begins at 7pm with the line forming…whenever you want (translation: get there EARLY). Everything will be filled at the outdoor growler table to avoid overcrowding at the bar, which will have 5 Peg’s barrel-aged beers on tap, including RareR DOS.
Purchase limits will be decided based on turnout, as the staff wants to make their best effort to ensure everyone who lines up receives a growler. After the line is cleared, people will be allowed to buy additional RareR DOS, which is of course subject to availability.
Taplist starting at noon:
RareR DOS (rum barrel-aged imperial stout)
Rare DOS (whiskey barrel-aged imperial stout)
Batch 200 (Coffee with Cream Imperial Porter)
Whiskey Batch 200 “Rare”
Rum Batch 200 “RareR”
Peg’s Cantina is located at 3038 Beach Blvd in Gulfport.

The latest installment of Coast Brewing Company’s Barrel Aged Blackbeerd is finally ready to hit the brewery after resting for 11 months in Blanton’s bourbon barrels. 2012 marks the 4th bottle release of the barrel aged variation on the South Carolina brewery’s popular imperial stout, and also proves to be the most plentiful to date.
From the brewery’s website:
“This batch was the largest amount of barrel aged Blackbeerd ever made (in years past the batch was split half barrels/ half straight up. This time an entire batch was barreled). Therefore, this is the biggest release, which means more to go around. And yes some will go to a few accounts around town too (starting next week)! Sweet.”
Barrel Aged Blackbeerd will be available starting on December 1 while they are open from 11am – 2pm for regular tours and tastings. $15 per 22 ounce bottle with no limit other than SC state law which allows people to purchase one case per person, per day. The brewery also expects regular Blackbeerd to be ready soon.
Previous barrel aged vintages of Blackbeerd were:
2009 – Jack Daniels
2010 – Buffalo Trace
2011 – Barrel Blend (50% Jack Daniels, 50% Buffalo Trace)
Coast Brewing is located at 1250 2nd St N in North Charleston, SC.
